Admission
A Learner residing in any part of the Country (India) may enroll in any ODL programme being offered by Alagappa University.
Admissions, PCP, examinations etc. shall be conducted within the territorial jurisdiction (Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts).
There are two sessions of admission every year; (i) July session (from 1st July to 30th September) and (ii) January session (from 1st January to 31st March).
UGC-DEB has accorded Recognition / entitlement on 31.08.2023 to the University for offering 17 PG programmes for July 2023 session and onwards admission
UGC-DEB has accorded Recognition / entitlement during October 2024 to the University for offering 7 UG programmes for July 2024 session and onwards admission
Learners can apply for admission through ONLINE process through Alagappa University webportal ONLY.
Choice 1: seeking admission at Head Quarters (Karaikudi) Centre.
Choice 2: seeking admission through authorized Learner Support Centres (LSCs) situated within Sivagangai and Ramanathapuram districts.
July 2024 session - Admission to PG & UG programmes: ONLINE portal closes on 15.11.2024.
Alagappa University never engages franchising mode of admission. Hence, learners are informed to aware of this and NOT to entertain for admission through any third party / portal. Latest notifications will be made available to the public / prospective learners through University website. University will not pass admission related information to any third party. Hence, learners are advised NOT to listen to any third party / unauthorised person(s) information in social media (WhatsApp or Youtube) or any other means about Alagappa University Distance Education admission. If noticed, treat them as FAKE and NOT AUTHENTIC.
100% tuition fee concession to Differently-abled persons.
50% tuition fee concession to Prisoner and Trans-gender persons.
25% tuition fee concession to Police, Military, para-Military persons
25% tuition fee concession to learners who have pursued Distance Education programme earlier and now willing to enroll for another programme.
25% tuition fee concession to learners who are pursing UG / PG programmes in regular mode at Alagappa University Departments as well as at Alagappa University Affiliated Colleges to pursue Diploma or Certificate programme.
Tuition Fee
Minimum study period is 3 years for UG programme and 2 years for PG programme.
Maximum study period allowed for completion is DOUBLE the minimum study period (6 years for UG and 4 years for PG from the year of admission).
II & III Year learners are informed to remit the tuition fee (without fine) on or before 30th September (those admitted in July session) and on or before 28th February (those admitted in January session).
Fine (Rs.500) will be charged on remittance of tuition fee after the due date mentioned (during minimum study period).
Additional fine (Rs.1000 per year) will be charged on remittance of tuition fee after the minimum study period, but before the maximum study period allowed.
Learners having pending tuition fee will not be allowed to sit for the examination.
If the learners do not remit the required tuition fee within the maximum study period, then they will be treated as discontinued and hence will not be allowed to sit for the examination.
SLM (Books)
Hard copies of Self Learning Materials (SLMs) will be dispatched to learners who have remitted the required tuition fee.
Soft copies of SLMs have been uploaded and available on the University website.
Assignment
Learners should submit two assignments per course of credit 4.
Assignment submission due date is 30th November / 31st March in a year as the case may be.
End semester Examination results will be withheld for learners who have not submitted the assignments.
PCP
Personal Contact Programme (PCP) for Science-Lab based programmes are being conducted at Head Quarters (Karaikudi) only.
PCP will be conducted during October / November (for those admitted in July session) at the Head Quarter and/or authorized LSCs.
PCP will be conducted during March / April (for those admitted in January session) at the Head Quarter and/or authorized LSCs.
Examination
The evaluation shall include two types of assessments;
(i) continuous or formative assessment in the form of Assignment and PCP;
(ii) summative assessment in the form of end semester examination.
The learner should submit two assignments per course of credit 4 and have minimum attendance of 75 % in the programme specific PCP.
End semester Examination will commence mostly during last week of December and first week of May every year.

Result
Examination Results are published through University website after 15-45 days from the last day of Examination (December / May) in a year
